Pumpkin Spice Protein Smoothie with freshly ground Cinnamon

Hi guys! Well fall is now officially underway. Besides the wonderful cool weather there is something I love even more about this season. It’s the time of year when they bring back one of my favorite beverages. You guessed it, the pumpkin spice latte!! What could be better than that!? Coffee, pumpkin & cinnamon all in one delicious morning cup of goodness.
After a week and several dozen cups of these high cal. hot and frozen lattes, I decided that I need to come up with some sort of healthy alternative. Well I think I may have done just that; a cold smoothie version. Not only is this delicious but it’s really good for you and it’s low in sugar.

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie
Recipe by: Dean Ludington
Makes one 16oz. serving

 Ingredients
1/2 C. Plain Low Fat Greek Yogurt
1/2 C. Unsweetened Soymilk
1/2 C. Pumpkin Pie Filling
1/4 C. Instant Oatmeal
1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
1/4 tsp. Pumpkin Spice(cinnamon, ginger nutmeg, allspice)
4-6 Ice Cubes

Instructions
  1. Put all ingredients in blender and blend on high. Some blenders perform better if you add the liquid ingredients first. After 30 seconds simply pour into tall glasses and enjoy. Garnish with freshly grated cinnamon.
Not only is this quick and easy, but you probably have all of the ingredients at home. Remember you can always substitute out  similar parts of the recipe. Try to interchange regular or unsweetened almond milk for the soy milk.  Greek yogurt generally is higher in protein and has less sugars than traditional yogurt. Either way, you are definitely going to love this smoothie.
