September Tag for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2013

So I finally got around to finishing this tag. I was a lot of fun using stencils with ink instead paint. I've always thought stencils were just for paint. Using the ink applicator gives you the ability to use stencils in different ways. You kind of get the effect of airbrushing.

 

 

This months Theme was basically overlaying stencils, bright colors and depth.

 

Seems pretty simple until you realize how many different effect you can achieve. for this tag I used stains, inks, stamps, burlap and obviously stencils. Most of the product were Tim Holtz and/or Ranger. Some of the  stencils I created myself since I couldn't find them in store or online.

The bright colors and ray of light stencil started giving my tag an effect that reminded me of both of a design from the sixties and also the nineties. I love and can appreciate the best of each decade and that was my first instinct for the subject of this tag.

It was interesting to see how the colors overlaid and created effects that I am sure to incorporate on designs in the future.
